The Rails Online Conference provides an ongoing forum for exploring the latest issues, without the expense or inconvenience of travel. It's our way of bringing Rails to your desktop and keeping the conversation alive throughout the year.
In an online conference, participants log on and attend sessions, enter into discussions with other participants and presenters using the live text chat, and are able to pose questions and interact with people from all over the world. It has a similar structure to a physical conference, except that you hear the speakers discuss topics and watch their slide presentations via your computer from the convenience of your office or home. You'll take breaks between sessions and enjoy lively conversations with your fellow attendees.
Exploring Rails 3
Join Us for a Free Two Hour Online Conference
Rails 3 is taking its final shape, so there's no better time to take a close look at the work that's been done in the past year. Join us for a series of talks on everything you'll need to get started with it – from creating a new application, to upgrading from Rails 2, to the foundation that makes it all possible.
Who's Speaking?

Getting up-to-date with Rails 3 Speaker: Yehuda Katz, Engine Yard
Rails 3 is a lot of things. Yehuda will go through the important high-level changes, giving you a starting point for digging into the improvements the Rails team has made for Rails 3.

Rails 2 to the 3 (Abridged) Speaker: Gregg Pollack, Envy Labs
This talk will give an overview of what has improved with a highlight reel of some of the best parts.

Why Port? Speaker: Jeremy Kemper, 37signals
Rails 3 is the clear choice for new apps, but is it worth porting your apps running on Rails 2.3 and older?

Rack in Rails 3 Speaker: Ryan Tomayko, GitHub
In this talk we'll take a look at Rack: why it was created, how it caught fire across Ruby web frameworks, and how to build Rack components that further extend Rails 3's HTTP pipeline.
Program subject to refinement. All talks are 30 minutes, with a 15 minute break at US-PST: 10:00am (US-EST: 1:00pm). The entire conference will be recorded and made available to attendees free of charge afterwards.
