Getting up-to-date with Rails 3 Speaker: Yehuda Katz, Engine Yard

Rails 3 is a lot of things. Yehuda will go through the important high-level changes, giving you a starting point for digging into the improvements the Rails team has made for Rails 3.

Rails 2 to the 3 (Abridged) Speaker: Gregg Pollack, Envy Labs

This talk will give an overview of what has improved with a highlight reel of some of the best parts.

Why Port? Speaker: Jeremy Kemper, 37signals

Rails 3 is the clear choice for new apps, but is it worth porting your apps running on Rails 2.3 and older?

Rack in Rails 3 Speaker: Ryan Tomayko, GitHub

In this talk we'll take a look at Rack: why it was created, how it caught fire across Ruby web frameworks, and how to build Rack components that further extend Rails 3's HTTP pipeline.

Program subject to refinement. All talks are 30 minutes, with a 15 minute break at US-PST: 10:00am (US-EST: 1:00pm). The entire conference will be recorded and made available to attendees free of charge afterwards.

Chad Fowler
Chad Fowler is an internationally known software developer, trainer, manager, speaker, and musician. Over the past decade he has worked with some of the world's largest companies and most admired software developers. He loves to program computers and, as part of his role as CTO of InfoEther, Inc., spends much of his time solving hard problems for customers in the Ruby language. He is co-organizer of RubyConf and RailsConf and author or co-author of a number of popular software books, including the recently released "The Passionate Programmer: Creating a Remarkable Career in Software Development".

Ben Scofield
Ben Scofield is the Technology Director for Viget Labs, where he has worked with a variety of companies to clarify strategies and build their web presences. He has been an active participant in the Ruby and Rails communities, contributing to open source projects, and speaking at various events. In addition, he has worked over the past year to bring together developers from different fields through a series of local events held around the country.
