After building the Flickr Uploadr, today used by millions of Flickr users around the world, Richard left Flickr to join OpenDNS, the world's largest and fastest-growing DNS provider. At OpenDNS Richard leads engineering on backend systems, namely the DNS Stats processing system which handles more than 8 billion DNS queries daily. Richard is a 2007 graduate of Washington University in Saint Louis, where he earned Bachelor's Degrees in Computer Engineering and Computer Science.

OpenDNS performs more than 8 billion DNS queries each day, generating mountains of data which we give back to our users. Processing and storing the interesting bits took a special map-reduce pipeline running on seven servers, backed by MySQL and memcached. I'll share all of the false starts and the techniques used to finally cope with more than half a gigabyte of log files per minute.

Judge Jeffery White ordered that the WikiLeaks.org domain be removed at the request of Julius Baer Bank & Trust. David Ulevitch is the founder and CEO of OpenDNS, the world's largest and fastest-growing free recursive DNS service. Previously, he founded the EveryDNS authoritative DNS service, today boasting more than 100,000 users. A longtime participant in the anti-phishing, anti-botnet and DNS communities, Ulevitch has been described as "one of the top DNS experts in the world" and was honored by Shadowserver - the public group that works to eliminate Botnets - by being inducted into its Hall of Fame. In addition to his commercial endeavors, he helped start the California Community Collocation Project, a non-profit that provides free, unencumbered Internet services to non-commercial entities.
