Public Cloud

Our Public Cloud platform lets you leverage the on-demand flexibility of a public cloud and still get the application scaling, reliability and ease-of-deployment that you require.

Solo

Engine Yard Solo™ is an inexpensive, web-based platform for on-demand management of your Ruby on Rails web application on Amazon AWS. Solo is an excellent hosting option for smaller-scale web applications. Usage is fully metered beyond a minimum of $25 per month, so you pay for what you use. There are no setup fees, no environment fees, and you don’t need your own Amazon account.

Private Cloud

When you signup for Engine Yard Private Cloud services, you get a portion of our business and technical resources–including Rails-focused deployment support, our Ruby on Rails cluster computing platform, and a data center with proven technical and financial stability.

Slice

Engine Yard Slices is our Private Cloud entry-level plan, excellent for businesses that require conventional disk storage, managed outbound SMTP or a full Service Level Agreement. It has a minimum order of 1 staging slice and 2 productions slices, to ensure redundancy.

Fractional Clusters

Engine Yard Fractional Cluster is our core Private Cloud service, and ideal if you are already running a successful service and need to scale, but don’t want variability in performance. Businesses with very high traffic, or with special data retention requirements, such as HIPAA, financial compliance, or dedicated databases, will want to consider a Fractional Cluster.

¹ Engine Yard support for Solo is provided via Solo-specific support forums and guides. IRC, phone and ticketing support are not available for Solo.

² Solo is a metered hosting plan with a minimum monthly usage fee of $25, billed in advance. Actual fees are elastic and depend on usage, but a standard Solo instance running full time costs $115 per month.

³ Minimum Slice order is 1 production slice and 1 staging slice—a staging slice costs $249/month.

⁴ Minimum Fractional order is 2 fractional slices.
