Adobe Reader Mobile Developer Center
The Adobe® Reader Mobile software development kit (SDK), available by license, extends unparalleled quality and reliability of proven PDF technology to mobile devices, allowing third-party developers to support the PDF, EPUB and eBook content protection functionality within their own devices and smartphone applications. Device developers can take advantage of a mobile-optimized software engine, designed to deliver high-performance, high-quality scalable document rendering across a wide range of resource-limited embedded devices. Adobe Reader Mobile technology maximizes compatibility with the latest specifications and interoperability with Adobe products.
New Features of the Adobe Reader Mobile 9 release (which supersedes the previous Adobe Reader LE solution) include:
- PDF reflow, enabling resizing text-oriented documents for greatly improved readability on small screens. PDF is the international standard (ISO 32000-1) for more secure and reliable distribution and exchange of electronic documents and forms.
- EPUB support, providing support for the new XML-based standard for reflow-centric eBooks.
- Adobe Content Server 4 compatibility, allowing for content protection for commercially published premium content, whether fulfilled by wireless or wired connections.
- Simplified APIs, designed to ease porting and integration with your own device software and help you achieve faster time-to-market.
- Reference systems for popular ARM-based operating systems, including embedded Linux and Windows Mobile®.
Availability
The Adobe Reader Mobile SDK is available from Adobe through a license agreement to OEMs, ISV integrators, and mobile applications developers on a case-by-case basis. The first step in the licensing the Adobe Reader Mobile SDK is to fill out the information request form (PDF, 41k) and email it to ReaderMobileSales@adobe.com.
Existing Adobe Reader LE customers can contact their Adobe Sales Point of Contact to get access to the latest Reader Mobile 9 release.
