MySQL Pocket Reference Review, January 23 2004

Great Reference book. Not to be used as a full tutorial but is great for a quick lookup reference. It is good for those of us who are using MySQL for the first time but have experience with other DB's like MSSQL or Oracle. I did notice one discrepancy with MySQL's reference guide. When creating a Foreign Key constraint, the pocket reference does not show that foreign key column must be part of an index. I definitely recommend this book.
MySQL Pocket Reference Review, May 12 2003

exactly what the doctor ordered for working with mysql if you are a developer but not so much if you're an admin. (ie nothing about GRANT, REVOKE etc) Two strange ommissions is that it does not contain any entries for "RESTORE TABLE" or "BACKUP TABLE". The subtitle is "complete SQL reference and functions" and I suppose RESTORE and BACKUP are not really SQL, but they are still useful to a developer. Small whine about an otherwise good usefulness to cost ratio.
