Dreamweaver MX (for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, and Windows) marks the dramatic merger of two bestselling Web-design programs from Macromedia: Dreamweaver, for creating Web sites, and UltraDev, a package of Web-database language modules that were once once sold separately. As in his highly regarded Dreamweaver 4: The Missing Manual, author David McFarland livens this extraordinary guidebook with unique, live examples, that let the reader see and test--on the Internet itself--real Web pages. There's even a step-by-step tutorial for creating an interactive Web database using Microsoft's ASP programming language, new to Dreamweaver MX.

Dreamweaver MX: The Missing Manual Review, December 24 2003

Outstanding. I used this book to learn DwMX from scratch (after several years of text-editing HTML) to code a new web site and it did a phenomenal job. The progression from basic to advanced concepts and techniques are very well handled. Since learning DwMX, I've used the book as a reference, and it also excels there. If you're learning DwMX, or just want to get the most out of it, this book is for you.

Once again (like with other Missing Manual books I've read) the authors set the standard for clear, concise, easy to digest and well written information on Dreamweaver MX. It truly is "The Missing Manual," in fact, Macromedia should be paying these guys to produce learning documentation on all of their software!

Excellent source of information on DreamweaverMX. Cleared up several issues I was having with advanced forms and database connections.
Even though it's an excellent work on the subject. My wish list would include more info on connections to SQL database's and Forms using C#.
Thanks for producing the work

"One of the beauties of the Missing Manuals is that there is always something new to discover and the research is quite thorough...I kept finding snippets of information, in the way of Tips or Notes, that would give just that bit extra."

"I have reviewed quite a number of Missing Manual books and I am always impressed with them. David Pogue is a Mac master and the depth of his knowledge shines through."
-- Roger Bernau, ACT Apple User Group Incorporated
"I've been pleasantly surprised to find a whole lot of books about Dreamweaver and its various Studio MX software buddies...The best of the lot was (as is so often the case), 'Dreamweaver MX: The Missing Manual' from Pogue Press/O'Reilly. Over 750 pages long, and devoted exclusively to Dreamweaver MX and not the other programs in Studio MX, this is a true step-by-step guide, the very model of what a user's guide ought to be. Every facet and feature of the software is clearly and carefully described with immediately actionable directions. I'd go as far as to say that buying the software without buying this book is akin to buying an incomplete product. Web design is all about understanding a program's capabilites. With so many available features in Dreamweaver, it's wonderful to see, for example, an entire chapter filled with a description of every action (or, if you like, every behavior) that can be associated with a link. Details. That's what it's all about!"

"...as you open it, the magical Missing Manual effect takes over and you are among friends...This book is another excellent member of the Missing Manual series, with all the same key elements--clarity of presentation, engaging writing, and thorough coverage of the topic and its context...Mac Guild Grade: A--Outstanding."
--Diane Love, Mac Guild User Group, April 4, 2003
"'Dreamweaver MX: The Missing Manual' is about as complete a primer on the latest version of Macromedia's web design software as one could want."
--John Maas, Macintosh User Group of Oneonta, NY, April 2003
