Linux/Unix 1: The Unix file system
Linux and Unix Training for the Complete I.T. Beginner
As the first course in the Linux/Unix System Administration Certificate series, this course familiarizes students with the Linux and Unix environments and covers the basics of system administration and user management. Students will learn and perform on real Redhat Linux systems that are provided by OST and can be accessed online.
Upon completion of the course, students will earn 4 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) and a CEU letter from the University of Illinois Office of Continuing Education.
This course covers topics including: Navigating Linux/Unix file system, permissions, text editors, shells, obtaining system info, pipes and grep, regular expressions, symbolic and hard links, tar and gzip, SSH and telnet, syslog, cron, and managing users.
Base lab fee is a flat $9.95/month, no matter how many courses you are in. (Linux/Unix courses incur an additional $9.95/month lab fee due to an extra root server account. This can be removed upon request when not working on these courses.)
