Adobe Version Cue CS3 SDK
(April 2007)
The Version Cue CS3 SDK is a integrated development environment built on Eclipse
that enables java developers to create plugins for the Version Cue CS3 Server. With a extended Version Cue CS3 solution, creative workgroups can connect to external systems without having to leave the context of their creative applications.
Version Cue is included with the Creative Suite 3 and provides centralized file management for creative workgroups that is easily accessible from Creative Suite components. You can leverage Version Cue's application integration to enable connectivity to external systems from Bridge CS3, Illustrator CS3, InDesign CS3, InCopy CS3, Photoshop CS3, and Flash CS3 Professional.
The Version Cue CS3 SDK provides a way to extend the features of Version Cue CS3 and create connectors to DAM, ECM, CMS, source control, and other information systems. The Version Cue CS3 SDK includes sample plugins, integrated debugging, and extensive documentation of the Version Cue CS3 API. It enables you to:
- Provide a method of authentication to an external system.
- The ability to browse and search content in a external system.
- Upload, download, check in, and check out content to a external system.
- Ability to extend the user interface with custom icons, metadata, menu items, and dialogs.
- Utilize asset services for creation of thumbnails.
- Read and write XMP metadata.
Introducing the Version Cue CS3 SDK
The following videos provide an overview of the Version Cue API and showcase what you can build with the SDK:

Whats new in version 1.1:
- A new sample which shows you how to optimize performance when connecting a external system. It shows you how to work with generation (cache) flags and how to implement a fetcher for retrieving details for multiple assets in a single remote call.
- A new sample shows how to perform common workflow operations when connecting a external system. It shows how to implement operations like lock/ unlock/ cancel lock for an asset in a custom project, and how to enable check-out/ check-in for custom projects.
- New and improved documentation including all API changes in Adobe Version Cue CS3 Server 3.1.0.
- Bug fixes including consistent handling of asset creation dates as well as integration in Adobe Bridge, e.g. improvements in the Filter Panel, Server-driven contextual menus and much more!
- For detailed information about the changes please consult the readme.
