Excellent book with practical examples. Some may prefer more C# examples but if ASP.NET does take off it might very well be seen more often in VB.NET anyway.

If you want just one reference on your desk I recommend this book. Like most "nutshell" books everything is there in one place.

The book could be improved by giving the reader a little tutorial on converting VB to C#. Not every reader is going to be familiar with the syntax differences.

ASP.NET class names and page directives remain the same however, no mater what language is used, so I don't see the lack of C# examples as a big deal.

Now all we need are more ASP.NET projects!!

I was not satisfied by this book. I think it is a bit confused about its target reader.

I am new to programming in general and my first contact (except actionscript and javascript) was VB.NET and ASP.NET. After i took some official MS cources on VB.NET, ASP.NET and ADO.NET I was looking for a reference book to have in hand.

The intro part of this book was of no use to me because I already knew the stuff, but even if I had no previous knowledge of .NET it would be of no use(could anyone use a validator control for example after reading this intro, or at least get a picture of what it is?). My point is it is neither for those who know something neither for those who don't. Certainly not a tutorial.

The second part on the other hand was a bit frustrating. It assumes very good knowledge of OOP which not only a beginner programmer doesn't have but (as far as I know) neither many VB6 programmers. That said it didn't give me a better insight into the object orientation of .NET. It reads rather like academic definitions compilation than a applicable knowledge. It didn't help me clarify anything.(in sharp contrast with your other book "VB.NET in a nutshell" which struck me with its clearcut examples and crisp explanations even on things I barely knew).

The last part I cannot say much about since I haven't used it yet. I liked the UML illutrations though.

Excellent book except for one thing. Great layout. Complete coverage.

It's only for VB.NET programmers!!

I would have given it the highest rating, if not for VB.NET focus.
