“I warmly welcome The RePlaybook and its effective, creative, and hopeful ways to tackle the climate and information crisis. I celebrate the research, innovations, skills, tools, alliances, and mindsets that are offered here. The 30 chapters that make up the book decode, challenge, and counteract patterns of online behaviour that influence public opinion for profit-making purposes — at the expense of protecting everyone’s human rights in the context of climate change.”Elisa Morgera, UN Special Rapporteur on climate change
Empowering communities to mitigate the impacs of digital technologies
We are a creative international non-profit with over two decades of experience dedicated to exploring the socio-political and environmental impacts of technology on society. In collaboration with a global network, we develop creative public interventions, exhibitions, resources, and training programs to:
Promote Critical thinkingWe foster critical conversations about technologies' impacts on
society and the environment.
Build the capacity of individuals and communitiesWe advance civil society skills and create spaces for exchange and
collaboration.
Foster understanding and knowledgeWe conduct research and advance knowledge on the intersection of
technology, power and crises.
Now more than ever, we need to be ready to understand and navigate the impacts of generative technologies. Through immersive activations, toolkits, guides, and training programs, we empower individuals, communities, and organizations to understand and respond to the landscape of challenges and opportunities created by AI and AI-powered tools, while fostering critical reflection.
Digital technologies impact the environment, but also shape the way society understands and responds to the climate crisis. Increasingly, actors work with data-driven technologies to set narratives that sometimes spread confusion. We advance knowledge and build the capacity of professionals and decision-makers to understand and respond to this influence in the industry through training, residencies, masterclasses, and toolkits.
We want to empower young people to shape the digital world they want to live in. To do so, we design creative, playful, youth-focused initiatives, captivating educational interventions, resources, toolkits, and workshop curricula co-created with youth and educators, with which we foster spaces for conversations about how technology impacts our lives—from the individual to the societal and planetary levels.
Fostering a trustworthy, evidence-based information ecosystem is key. Through co-developed resources, digital residencies, and training programs on investigative methods, we build the capacity of journalists, media actors, citizen investigators, and content creators to uncover hidden information, expose corruption, and promote truth. We facilitate collaboration while fostering digital and Open-Source Investigations (OSINT) globally.

In 2024, Tactical Tech responded to a rapidly evolving digital
landscape and its accelerating socio-political and environmental impacts,
driven largely by the widespread adoption of AI technologies. With a
forward-looking, creative, and collaborative approach, we empowered civil
society, communities, and organizations to better understand and address the
growing influence of digital technologies on democracy, society, and everyday
life.
Tactical Tech is opening a year-long paid volunteer opportunity for
an individual who wants to learn more about creative interventions that
champion a digitally resilient society and join our communications and
partnerships team in the Berlin-based office.
Examining just a few of the threads in recent technological
developments reveals a tapestry of interwoven troubles. Tools like artificial
intelligence systematize pre-existing struggles in society and on the planet.
In this multi-part series, you’ll find out what’s really beneath the shiny
surface of technology.
