É a tecnologia que permite que você estabeleça uma conexão segura e criptografada entre o seu computador e alguns dos sites e serviços de internet que você visita. Quando você está conectado a um site por meio desta tecnologia, o endereço do site irá começar com HTTPS 
ao invés de HTTP. Seu nome foi oficialmente alterado para Transport Layer Security (TLS) em 1999, mas muitas pessoas ainda usam o nome antigo.
