Not only have these DE&I efforts benefited the employees involved, but they are also crucial building blocks of a long-term competitive advantage for our company.

As we look ahead towards 2023, we will continue to hold ourselves accountable for progressing upon our inclusion journey as a company. We have made it our focus to communicate openly and honestly regarding where we can do better, and to put plans in place to move forward. As a leader in the industry we owe this to our team, to our customers, and to society at large.

In the last few years, we’ve seen a positive and much-needed change in society around equality and representation. Movements have arisen around the rights of specific groups but if the media industry wants to make real progress around diversity and inclusion, we need to review every layer of the advertising process and ensure that inclusion is part of the conversation at all organizations involved in delivering advertising and at every level of those organizations.

It’s a privilege to announce that two of my PubMatic marketing team colleagues — Susan Wu and Alena Morris — have been selected as honorees at this year’s Top Women in Media and Ad-Tech Awards. The awards, from AdExchanger, AdMonsters and Folio, “recognize, celebrate, inspire and bring together the women who are making an impact in the greater digital media and advertising technology community.”

A person’s mental health changes over time, sometimes these changes are rapid, sometimes they take place over a number of months or even years.

All organisations have a responsibility to do the very best they can for both their employees and the planet. For business leaders, it is vital to engage with initiatives that deliver real change and value. The challenge is identifying which organisations and initiatives will deliver that value in line with your business goals while also benefitting your employees.

At PubMatic we continually look for opportunities to develop female talent and provide pathways to leadership. Our investment in and strategies for people development enable all our people to acquire new skills and advance within the organization. This year, we introduced a unique leadership course for mid-career women. The course introduces participants to the functional, behavioral and leadership skills required to move into the management level. It also addresses issues faced by women in the workplace. The women-only setup allows for greater candidness in a supportive environment, and a deepening of understanding of distinct leadership styles.

PubMatic marked International Women’s Day 2021 by hosting “Joy in the Journey,” our in-house women’s leadership program. The event featured female leaders sharing how they have advanced in their careers, challenges they overcame, and lessons learned along the way.

As part of a commitment to employee wellbeing, PubMatic marked Mental Health Awareness Month this past May. This year, we offered a workshop to all U.S. employees that would allow them to discover the best ways to optimize their work-from-home setups to improve their health and comfort.

PubMatic released their Annual Diversity & Inclusion report for 2021, the fifth that we’ve published.

In our 2019 Diversity & Inclusion report, we highlight steps taken to encourage employee growth and improve our hiring and promotion of a diverse talent pool.

PubMatic has recently launched our diversity inclusion report which touched on three main areas: finding the best talent, empowerment through inclusion, and pay parity. Obviously, I am vested in all of the above. And as a ‘woman in ad tech,’ I was particularly interested in understanding how we at PubMatic faired with regards to female representation, and I was pleasantly surprised. Outside of our Indian offices (which are mostly engineers and have their own unique workforce dynamics, more of which you can read about in our report), 36% of our global workforce are female. That is set to grow, as 52% of all new hires in our non-Indian offices in 2016 were female (up from 43% in 2015).

PubMatic recently released our 2018 Diversity & Inclusion Report highlighting our diversity “numbers” across several key measurements from 2017.

We have made strides in the right direction by empowering women’s voices, even in ad tech sales, but there is still much work to be done.
