WordPress Origin Story
A friend pulled up their blog on a laptop in one of the campus dining halls in the fall of 2006 or so. The design looked nice, so I asked what they used for it, and they said WordPress. I installed it on our dorm server later that month, and started making sites with it after college. After getting involved in the Boston WordPress Meetup, I gradually became more involved in the open source project and began contributing in 2013. Later, I joined the REST API project team and helped to prepare that plugin for merge into WordPress core, then went on to be the component maintainer for the REST API until 2020.
