Emergency Readiness Instructors
Delaware Statewide CERT is looking for CERT BASIC TRAINING INSTRUCTORS who may be available and qualified to provide instruction in any or all of the CERT Basic Training unit content areas throughout Delaware.
About the CERT Basic Training
CERT is a FEMA-sponsored classroom training program with a standardized curriculum presented over 18 -20 hours teaching disaster preparedness skills through classroom, hands-on and active exercise instruction methods. CERT Trainings occur approximately seven (7) times annually throughout Delaware using multiple schedule and timing formats including Friday evening thru Sunday afternoon, and specifically scheduled dates over several weeks. Additionally, CERT Trainings for CERT graduates are also available.
Instructor opportunities are available for all nine (9) units within the CERT Basic training curriculum. Possible assignments may include any individual unit or several units up to all units based on the CERT Programs’ training needs. It is recommended that at least two instructors jointly conduct each session.
Compensation
- Scheduled instructors receive an hourly wage for instruction time.
- Payment for instruction is provided through the Delaware State Fire School (DSFS).
- Selected Instructors complete Delaware State Fire School enrollment procedures and follow DSFS required processes.
- This is a Delaware CERT Program Training offered in partnership with the Delaware State Fire school.
Instructors do not have to be certified Delaware State Fire School Instructors.
Assignment
- Approved instructors will be contacted in advance with available teaching opportunities.
- The CERT Basic Training is scheduled and conducted by the local CERT Sponsor agency who will select instructors based on instructors working knowledge of the content and skills required for each session.
- Instructors may discuss with the CERT Program the ability to alter the scheduled time of a particular unit to meet the instructor’s availability.
- When contacted with a training request, instructors may select any or all units requested.
