Postdoc Programs Overview
These workshops help participants build and improve their communication skills.
Join us for a mix of small-bite curriculum, journal club, and case study discussions designed to foster community among postdocs committed to mentoring and becoming better mentors.
Mentoring is an integral skill not only for academia, but for most careers. The OPA mentoring programs provide a breadth of training in mentoring fundamentals and deep dives into topics of interest through discussion, literature review, and practice. Together, we will transform the mentoring culture at Stanford, and provide postdocs with skills to take into the world.
Introduction
The Postdoc Mentoring Certificate provides a framework on which to develop your mentoring skills, practice new techniques, and reflect on your experience.
The 2-part certificate provides flexibility, encouraging the development of fundamental skills in Tier 1, and then applying those skills in Tier 2. The combination of workshops, small group discussion, and practice is supported by postdoc coaches and regular drop-in lunch sessions to address real-life challenges and celebrate success.
The Stanford Postdoc Mentoring Coaches are the foundation of a high-quality, scalable, multi-tiered approach to postdoc mentor training that is transforming mentoring culture at Stanford and beyond.
OPA is recruiting postdocs to serve as peer coaches and facilitators. Postdocs serving as peer mentoring coaches and mentoring curriculum facilitators will be compensated for their time at an hourly rate of $45 per hour, excluding training.
Objectives:
These events typically bring experts on a specific topic to Stanford to speak to postdocs.
