________________________________________________________________________ APNIC Policy Implementation 9 May 2011 ________________________________________________________________________ Today, the APNIC Secretariat implemented three policy proposals that reached consensus at APNIC 31 Hong Kong in February 2011. On 6 May 2011 the APNIC Executive Council (EC) endorsed the proposals for immediate implementation. As a result, APNIC today issued a call for final editorial comments on two, provisionally-active, draft policy documents. The policy proposals being implemented are: prop-094 Removing renumbering requirement from final /8 policy prop-093 Reducing the minimum delegation size for the final /8 policy prop-088 Distribution of IPv4 addresses once the final /8 period starts For more information, see the history of these policy proposals at: https://www.apnic.net/policy/proposals Updated policy documents ------------------------ The comment period for the drafts of these provisionally-active documents will end on 6 June 2011. However, APNIC is now delegating IPv4 addresses in accordance with the principles in these policies. - Policies for IPv4 address space management in the Asia Pacific region https://www.apnic.net/policy/add-manage-policy - Policy environment for Internet number resource distribution in the Asia Pacific https://www.apnic.net/policy/policy-environment Pending Implementation ---------------------- The following two policies, endorsed by the APNIC EC on 6 May 2011, will be implemented by APNIC in the third quarter of 2011. prop-095 Inter-RIR IPv4 address transfer proposal prop-083 Alternative criteria for subsequent IPv6 allocations Global Policy ------------- The final proposal endorsed by the APNIC EC on 6 May 2011, is prop- 097: Global policy for post exhaustion IPv4 allocation mechanisms by the IANA. APNIC is the first RIR community to adopt this proposal. The proposal must be adopted in all four remaining RIR regions before it can proceed to the final stages of the global policy development process.
