Pierre-Antoine, In https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-rdf-interest/2000Oct/0024.html you raised an issue which was captured in https://www.w3.org/2000/03/rdf-tracking/#rdfms-difference-between-ID-and-about as [[[ what is the difference between writing <Description ID="bar"> and <Description about="#bar">? Why is ID needed? ]]] As recorded in https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-rdfcore-wg/2001Dec/0108.html the RDFCore WG resolved: The new syntax WD resolves this issue. (The new WD can be found at: https://www.w3.org/TR/2001/WD-rdf-syntax-grammar-20011218 I would summarize that the WG decided that rdf:ID="foo" is a synonym for rdf:about="#foo". There are some differences between the characters allowed in an rdf:ID attribute value and those allowed in an rdf:about attribute value that require some tidying up. Please could you respond to this message, copying www-rdf-comments@w3.org indicating whether this is an acceptable resolution of this issue. Brian McBride RDFCore co-chair
