Software Engineer || OSS Advocate.
I blend engineering and design to creatively and efficiently solve problems. Associate Director of Engineering @350org
I'm Benson Imoh (Bee) β a software engineer and engineering leader with over a decade of experience building web platforms, automating workflows, leading distributed teams, and contributing to open-source projects. I currently serve as Associate Director of Engineering at 350.org, where I combine leadership with hands-on software engineering and systems architecture to support its mission in addressing climate issues.
I specialize in building scalable systems, designing cloud-native infrastructure, and improving developer experience through automation and thoughtful architecture.
π§ What I Bring to the Table
Leadership: Experience growing and managing remote engineering teams across time zones.
IC Excellence: I still write code every day β JavaScript/Node.js, PHP, Go, Bash, and whatever gets the work done.
Cloud & DevOps: Infrastructure on GCP, AWS, Docker, Pulumi, Cloudflare, proficient in CI/CD, and setting up DevOps pipelines.
Frontend & CMS: Advanced work with React.js (Next.js, Gatsby, Vite) and Vue, WordPress (custom themes and plugins, Gutenberg blocks), Laravel.
OSS & Community: Actively contributing to OSS projects and supporting tech-for-good initiatives. Contributor to MDN, OSCAFRICA and open-source advocate.
πΌ Open to Opportunities
I'm currently exploring:
π Individual Contributor roles at mission-driven or tech-forward companies
π§ Technical leadership and DevOps architecture consulting roles
π Open-source collaborations that make tech more accessible
βI build software and infrastructure with the precision of an engineer and the curiosity of an artist, creatively and efficiently solving problems using bold ideas and experimental methods.β
