Editors' Note
The Editors of Legacy are pleased to introduce this special issue of the journal. The essays in this issue are revised versions of presentations at the 2001 Society for the Study of American Women Writers (SSAWW) conference and offer readers a sampling of the diverse program that helped make our first conference such a success. As the official journal of the Society, Legacy is pleased to offer this forum as a means of creating a historical record of that propitious occasion.
The next SSAWW conference is scheduled for September 24-27, 2003. Check the SSAWW Newsletter and the Legacy/SSAWW website <www.unl.edu/legacy/SSAWW1.html> for further details. We hope to see all of you at the next conference.
