JavaTM Plug-in enables applets written to the Java SE Platform 6 specification to be run in Mozilla and Internet Explorer web browsers. Java Plug-in comes with the 6 JRE/JDK.

Applet developers can use the Common DOM (Document Object Model) API when writing applets intended to run with Java Plug-in. The Common DOM API enables developers to traverse the DOM from within their applets. The Common DOM API is supported only in applets that run with 1.4, 5.0 or 6 versions of Java Plug-in.
