As a first step towards getting started with Database Management for Exadata Infrastructure, you must perform the prerequisite tasks
listed in the following table.
Task
Description
More Information
Discover the associated DB system
Discover the DB System in the on-premises Exadata
Database machine. This will act as a link to discover the associated
Exadata Infrastructure and connect to the storage servers.
You can use the same Management Agent installed to discover the DB
system to add connections to the storage servers during the Exadata
Infrastructure discovery process.
Note that if
the Exadata Database machine is configured with multiple VM
clusters, then you must install a Management Agent on each of the VM
clusters to discover the associated DB system. Once the DB systems
are discovered for all the VM clusters, then you can add them during
the Exadata Infrastructure discovery process. The Management Agent
must be installed on domU nodes (virtual machines)
and not on dom0 nodes (hypervisor).
Create Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
IAM user groups
The tenancy administrator must create IAM groups with
users who will discover the Exadata Infrastructure and use Database Management to monitor the storage
servers. It's recommended that you create separate user groups to
perform the following tasks:
Discover Exadata Infrastructure
Monitor the storage servers in the Exadata
Infrastructure
For information on how to create an IAM user group, see
To create a
group.
Create policies to assign permissions to user
groups
The IAM user groups must be assigned the required
permissions using policies to discover Exadata Infrastructure and
monitor the storage servers in Database Management. As mentioned in the preceding row, it's recommended
that there's a separation of duties and you create policies to assign
permissions to discover Exadata Infrastructure and monitor storage
servers to separate user groups.
