Computer Restorations

Computer restorations further CHM’s research and collection efforts by fostering understanding of historical hardware and software. Visitors can also experience some of these historical machines in their original operating condition.

In the years 1988−1994, venture capitalist and historian James L. Pelkey traveled around the world, conducting a total of 81 interviews as research for his hypertext book, A History of Computer Communications: 1968-1988.

History of FORTRAN

The FORTRAN History Project preserves source code, design documents, and other materials around the original IBM 704 FORTRAN/FORTRAN II compiler. This project is led by CHM's Software Preservation Group.
