Bistri is a WebRTC-based platform that allows users to share a permanent URL that links directly to a video call in Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Android. It works on Mac, PC, and any Android phone or tablet.
Bistri is proud to democratize video conferencing. Unlike Skype, the group video call feature is free. And unlike Skype, FaceTime or Google Hangouts, participants do not need to register for a user account to join the video chat. It’s what video chats were born to be.

We are really excited to announce that Video effects and Screenshots are now available on the Bistri mobile web app.
How to experience these features? Just one click on your BistriLink or your Bistri Button with Mozilla Firefox for Android.
When you click on “save”, Bistri gives you a link that you can share anywhere. This link is also automatically sent trough the chat to the other person.
These features are available today on Android, using Mozilla Firefox for Android, and on Google Chrome for Android soon.
Congratulations! You’ve just created your Bistri account, and you are happily sharing your Bistri link around you. Your Bistri link can be included in your email signature or it can be a QR code on your business cards, or a link on your LinkedIn profile. Now you are wondering what kind of experience users clicking on your link will get on a mobile device.
You can try it on your Android tablet by entering your Bistri link in the Chrome browser. After entering your nickname, automagically your computer connected on Bistri.com is ringing.
If you are using an iPhone, an iPad, the video calls are not available yet, but you can already chat, send some pictures to the Bistri user.
If the Bistri user clicks on the Video Conferencing Button, the permanent link is sent through the chat to the Mobile user. One click and he lands on the video conference room. If someone share his screen over the video conference, the Mobile user will enjoy it too.

From now on, everyone on Bistri has his own Video Conference room, up to 4 participants. One unique and simple link to join your conference: bistri.me/username/conf
As always on Bistri, it’s a frictionless new feature. The persons who joins your conference doesn’t need to create an account on Bistri, or install anything.

For the moment, it is a full WebRTC feature, which means that you need Firefox 22+ or Chrome 23+, it doesn’t work on IE nor Safari yet. The Screen Sharing is available in Google Chrome 27+ with “Enable screen capture support in getUserMedia()” flag activated in chrome://flags

A few days ago, has been launched WebRTCStats with AddLive, UberConference, Drum, Symonics, Twelephone, Apidaze and Zingaya as a start. The purpose of this web site is to provide a clear vision of the usage of WebRTC by the end-users. So if you are a vendor of a WebRTC solution feel free to contact us and join the movement by sharing your statistics.
For this first edition of WebRTC Stats, the data comes from Bistri and are based on 1,500,000 minutes of video calls.

Since we launched the private sharing functionality 5 months ago, you probably tried several times to find a picture or a document that you received or sent…
With Bistri, you can share any type of file up to 100 Mb (images, videos, music etc…), with multiple contacts.
From now on, you can visualize all the files shared with your contacts in a gallery of medias. The gallery is showing you all the files you sent or received via Bistri.
The gallery is always accessible with a simple click on this icon in the website header (or in the menu on Bistri mobile application) :
Once inside the gallery, you can filter it to see only the photos or the files shared.
Just click on an image or on a file icon to view it in big and/or download it.
It’s now super easy to see all your files in one place !
We are planning even more features to keep improving your experience with the gallery of shared medias :
- forwarding a file to new contact(s)
- viewing the comments made on a file and adding your own comments
